After a fun lesson, what better way to spend time together than playing a fun, quick and educational game with the kids. One we have come to love is Apples to Apples. It is easy to play, has few instructions and rules and each child gets a chance to choose the winner. And really what child doesn't like to be in control now and then? We have both the adult and Junior version and kids do well playing either. Plus you can play for three minutes or thirty and it's easy to wrap up, which is a good thing.
The other two game my kids love after our lesson are fun card games we got from Grandma Blackhair. They can be purchased from Seagull Book and Tape or Deseret Book. The boys love playing Book of Mormon Go Fish. Same old game and rules, but fun to see people from the scriptures on the cards.
The other fun but silly game is called Nephite Appetite. It is a bit harder than Go Fish, but it's one more choice and has Book of Moromon characters.
Enjoy!

i love apples to apples! its one of my favorite games! although i haven't played the other two and i really can't remember how to play go fish, i 'm sure they're fun too! i agree with you, it always seems that monday nights fly by and its 11 pm and were lying in bed and realize we didnt have family night so we have an unplanned family night lying there half asleep; but it really deserves more! i'll try to follow your example and do a better job planning and implementing it...we'll see how it goes...! let me know when things aren't so busy so our chicas can play!
I'll go check out some of these games. My boys love nothing more than sitting and playing a game as a family. We, too, have found that after FHE is the perfect time. Because we are all sitting hanging out together already with no distractions....well except for ALice.
