Five and a half weeks have passed since Trey's disastrous fall that broke both his radius and ulna. October 20th was marked on the calendar and highlighted back in September. This was the day the cast would finally come off. We all happily piled in the van after school and headed downtown to the UK Clinic. Soon the cast was cut and removed.
Matt tries on Trey's cast
After a quick X-ray we saw the doctor. Good news- the bones were healing and the splint was removed. Not so good news: 4 more weeks of very careful activity. No running, jumping, climbing, scooters, bikes, football, tag, trampolines, etc. It is never easy for Trey to hold still.
The best part- Rich snuck away from work and came down to see us. He took us back to the reading room and showed us Trey's films. Trey could clearly see with his own eyes that the bones still have a long way to go until they are strong and able to with stand tumbles and falls. I think this fact alone will make he be very careful at school, recess and playing with his friends. We waved goodbye to Rich who was off to conference and knew it was time to celebrate Trey's new found mobility with an ice cream run to McDonald's. He needs calcium to help increase his bone regrowth right?!The new Trey. It's good to have him nearly back to normal. And hallelujah for the return of showers. A blessed thing in my book. Love you Treyman!

I would have said it had been no longer than two weeks since the fateful Saturday break.
I guess time flies when you are not the one with the cast.
Congrats on the new arm Trey.
Five weeks already? Congrats Trey!
