Boyd Orchards

Tonight our ward and the Pioneer Ward had a combined youth activity at Boyd Orchards in Versailles, Kentucky. I had taken the boys to the orchard last year and we had a great time. Rich and Trey had cub scouts at the church at the same time, so Josh, Matt and the girls came along with me for the fun.The wards were able to pay a fee to keep it open just for us. Rich and the boys had gone to the same activity two years ago when he was in young mens and he mentioned something about a bonfire and hay ride, but I really didn't know what we would be doing. I thought we would be spending the evening on the play area behind the barn. But after a few minutes of playing we were whisked off on a hay ride down to the bottom of the farm where a bonfire was ablaze and a corn maze was waiting to be discovered.
It was quite chilly, so the warm fire kept our faces and fingers warm. The boys loved roasting marshmallows and making S'mores.I love the bit of gooey marshmallow on the bottom of his lip.YUM!The boys tested out their Corn Hole skills. And Matt insisted we take a walk through the corn maze. That idea didn't appeal to Josh, who chose to stay toasty warm by the crackling fire.It took us about ten minutes to get out. Kaitlyn kept telling me "Go home. Find Daddy!" It was dark and cold, but luckily Matt guided us out with his trusty flashlight.
We rounded up the kids and Bishop Peterson gave a spiritual message about being leaders and ended with a prayer. We were in the van headed home 8:45 PM. It was a great night. They only things missing were Rich and Trey sharing in the fun.
