The day after our ultimate Thoroughbred experience, we went to explore something else that is very Kentucky- Bourbon Whiskey. We drove out to Woodford County to take a tour of a national historic landmark- The Woodford Reserve Distillery.The grounds and buildings are beautiful and it is located in the middle of horse country. The buildings are made of Limestone and we got to see every step in the process- from the sour mash, to the stills, to the warehouse, to bottling.
No, we didn't sample the bourbon at the end of the tour, but just smelling it was an experience. It has a yeasty, woody smell with hints of vanilla and citrus and I admit, it really is quite a pleasant. Though, Brynn would beg to differ (see photo below).
I took my Mom and Dad and three of my brothers to Woodford Reserve last August when they came for Josh and Matt's baptism. I was very excited to have a reason to go again when Greg and Kate came to visit.

This was so fun to see! You have You can leave Lexington/Louisville confident that you fit it all it. Seriously, you guys have seen some amazing things. I love it...and that you did it with six kids!
