Rainy Days

Last week I started to get worried that Lexington might simply float away. After a month of little or no precipitation, we had a solid seven days of rain. The week of wet did not get a break come Saturday. The dreary weather not only continued, but got worse. We had 3 inches of rain Friday night. There was a steady downpour that would become intense at times all night long. Baseball was canceled as well as soccer. There were some flash flood warnings in the area on Friday night, but our house and neighborhood were fine. In the morning, it was calmer, but felt a bit like the world had shut down. So we stayed indoors and enjoyed Trey's birthday together at home. When we finally ventured outdoor to escape the confines of the house and splash in a puddle or two, I realized that the once brown and dormant grass was now a shade of vivid green and the world was splashed with color.

Rain might not be very pleasant to work or drive in, but it brings out the best in nature and that day I had to stop and notice every petal, every hue and texture and appreciate the beauties of this earth.

Did you get a new lense because those are beautiful photos? I will be jealous if you did.
