Bear

I present this post with a sigh of relief. It was a mad dash to the finish, but Trey was able to complete all the requirements to earn his Cub Scout Bear. It wasn't like earning your Eagle by any means, but Cub Scouts falls down on my priority list when the scout doesn't show an inkling of assertiveness when working to pass things off.

I might not be gung ho on scouting, but I believe when your child is involved in something, they had better get the job done. I am not raising quitters.

Last month Rich upped the ante and told Trey if he did not finish his Bear before his birthday, he wouldn't get a single present. Yes, it sounds bit extreme and maybe a tad bit cruel, but this was an ultimatum that might actually get Trey moving.

And it worked.

Our Mom's witnessed a few afternoons of Trey sitting on the couch, longing to be outside with friends and sneaking away to the window to look out when possible, but staying in the family room passing things off.

We made a list of phone numbers, talked about Tall Tales, chatted with the Police man that lives next door, played a few games and memorized a few lines.

Trey got it done in the nick of time.

Trey recieved his award last night at Pack Meeting.

Congrats to Trey.

Now we had better start cracking at that Webelos award a bit sooner, because I don't want another last minute performance come September next year.
