Pinnacle Pirates vs Copperfield Crocodiles

Tonight was the Pinnacle Pirates' first swim meet of the season. We battled the Copperfield Crocodiles. I love seeing all the kids with their red and black, the slogans written on their backs and arms, the skull tattoos and all the pirate spirit wear splashed across the swimmers and parents alike. It means summer has truly arrived.

Having our pool and swim team is one of the biggest perks of living in our neighborhood. As I watch the kids at the pool each day swimming and playing, I can only think of what happy memories they will forever have of this time of life here in Lexington.

And to think that just three summers ago, the boys were barely able to keep their heads above water. I had my doubts that putting them on the swim team was a wise decision since they could hardly swim and I was terrified for their safety, but looking back they have progressed so much and it has all been from the daily swim practices and extensive time in the pool on a regular basis that has helped them to become quite skilled in the water.

This meet was supposed to be held at Copperfield, but this morning they switched it to our pool. What a blessing that was to us since Rich is working nights this week and Josh had a baseball game at the same time. This meant Rich could sleep a bit longer and go to Josh's game while I was across the street at our pool with the girls cheering on Matt and Trey.
Head Coach PhillipTrey and TannerTrey passed the time playing Uno (he always brings cards to meets)While Matt and his friends huddled under a blanket so they could see the Nintendo DS screen. The theme of the night was to wear RED.
Josh and Matt moved up to the 7 & 8 division. Josh did not swim since his baseball team was playing in the league tournament at the same time. I missed him being there with us and can't wait to see him swim next week. Matt was ready for his event- freestyle.Matt: FreestyleTrey moved up to the 9 & 10 division. He had a BUSY night. He competed in four events: freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. It was the first time he had ever raced in butterfly and breaststroke.
Trey: Freestyle
BackstrokeButterfly

BreaststrokeHe did a great job on all four strokes.Josh popped over after his game. His team, the Indians, lost for the second time in the tournament, so his spring rookie baseball season came to a close tonight.

Great job boys. We are so proud of all you have accomplished!

Cheryl,

As always I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your blogs for the past couple of weeks. I love hearing about your family and seeing their photos. But mostly I love the way you love your family. Reading your posts is great, but reading Trey's tribute was the best. The only thing I miss here is seeing more of you. Maybe you should give up the camera once in a while and pose with the kids!
