Christmas snow did whirl and blow here in Lexington early Tuesday morning, but during the night a thin layer of ice coated the city making the streets slick and dangerous. It was no surprise that morning to wake and find that school had been canceled. I love random snow days because it makes the world slow down and I enjoy being together with my children. The boys were up early and ready to PLAY!Josh and Matt's creationTrey was adventurous and tested out his sledding skills on the neighbor's back hill with friends. His fun quickly ended when his sled hit a rock, tossing him into the other neighbor's fence breaking two of the bottom slats which cut his leg and allowed their dogs to escape from the yard. Oops! The dogs were quickly returned and the fence was patched with a Rubbermaid lid nailed tight. It seems a trip to Lowe's is in our future....Josh won the award for braving the cold the longest- as in ALL DAY and INTO THE NIGHT! I think he must have an internal heater that radiates on hot to stay out for hours in the cold.
The girls escaped from the warm house while I snapped a few photos. Kaitlyn took a fall on the ice near the front door and quickly returned to the safe zone behind the glass door.
Brynn loved to shovel even without the warmth of a coat, hat and gloves. Don't worry, she didn't stay out for long.Josh and our next door neighbor Chris created this cool fort lasted three days. (Snow just never lasts long here in Kentucky.)
We ended the night by watching Horton Hears A Who. Not a bad way to spend a cold wintry day. Not bad at all.

Wow! I can't believe all the snow you received and you only live 60 or so miles from me! So fun (well, that is if you don't have to drive in it...)
It always cracks me up to hear when you guys have school canceled for a little bit of snow. In all my years of living here, we've never had school canceled.
