I had been promising the kids for weeks that we could visit Santa. I can't think of a year we haven't been to see Santa and tell him the top thing on our lists. Then the ward party weeks ago didn't pan out for us. Then we missed Santa at the swim and they were in near riot mode. Rich started his INTENSE week of call (Sunday-Saturday), so we had every night free this past week. Monday after school Trey had his last doctor's follow up doctor's appoint for his broken arm, then we had to get the boys fitted for tuxes for Rosie's wedding at Men's Warehouse which happened to be right next to the mall. As a reward for their excellent behavior during the fitting and trip to the clinic we visited Santa that evening.Santa was on break when we arrived. The girls were giddy when they saw him coming. Of course they were safely back tucked in their stroller. They weren't so fond of him once I was trying to put them on his lap. In fact I knew before that moment it wasn't going to work. Kaitlyn had her death grip on my leg and Brynn was nearly hyperventilating as our turn arrived and I began to inch forward toward the chair. I directed Trey and Matt to sit on the big fella's lap and had Josh kneel. Brynn agreed to stand next to Josh, but Kaitlyn had no desire at all be in close proximity to the man in red. The photo turned out better than I had anticipated.Brynn told Santa what she wanted from a safe distance- Ariel dress. The boys wanted: Trey- Nintendo DS, Matt- Star Wars toys, Josh- Webkinz or baseball bat.Kaitlyn was not pleased. Though later she did whisper "Snow White dress" as we said goodbye to Old St. Nick. I am sure the real Santa heard her.Santa gave them each some paper reindeer antlers made by Build-A-Bear. Attached to the antlers was a coupon for Build-A-Bear. Since it is one of our favorite places we went in to browse. And ended up buying this cute moose. The Christmas lights blink and he plays Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. Since Brynn took over our Thanksgiving turkey aptly named 'Gobble Gobble', Kaitlyn wanted 'Dancer' (as we named him) as her own. Rich and I laugh every night after we tuck the girls in bed when the sound of the tune plays over and over again in their room when Kaitlyn, who should be sleeping, presses his hand time and time again. Merry Christmas!
