Retirement party for Mrs. Newton at VPE
I drove all the boys (including Zach) to school very early so we could be part of Mrs. Newton's retirement party thrown in Josh's classroom. It was put together by the room mom Pan Lane and by the assistant teacher Ms. Bryant.
Mrs. Newton has been a part of our family for the past three years and has taught at Veterans Park since it opened 11 years ago and has been a teacher for 23 years. She was Trey's teacher for 2nd and 3rd grade (it's a combo class and students have the same teacher for 2 school years) and was Josh's teacher this past year.
Mrs. Newton is incredible. She was was such a good fit for both Trey and Josh and that's amazing since they are very different from each other. She's got a funny sense of humor, is so kind and thoughtful and loves my kids.
She sat down next to me after the Wulfe Brother's concert and told me that she feels like she's part of our family and thought we should have named Zach "Newt" in her honor. She gave me a card with her address, email and told me to look her up on Facebook (which I don't do, but Rich does). She said that she feels God gives her certain children and was blessed to have mine in hers. What an incredible woman! She will be greatly missed. We had bagels, juice, milk and doughnuts. The kids presented Mrs. Newton with a book they had written messages in.Ms. Bryant and Mrs. NewtonZach was the other star of the morning.Mrs. Newton with her husband Police Chief Newton and their daughter Molly (who is a teacher now and often used to sub at VPE).
Thanks Mrs. Newton!
